Selimiye Bay
Our next destination is Selimiye Bay, which is named after Selim II, the successor to Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and his beloved Ukrainian consort, Roksolana (Anastasiya Lisovskaya), known for her captivating red hair.
Interestingly, this bay is also humorously referred to as the "bay of drunks." It is said that Selim II had a deep fondness for wine, particularly Greek wine, and had an ardent appreciation for female beauty.
According to a local legend, it is believed that Selim II met his demise after falling off a cliff in this very bay.
Camilla Island
Our third stop on the Marmaris Hisaronu Aegean Islands Tour will be Camellia Island. Here, not only will you have the opportunity to swim, but also to embark on a stroll along a path that leads to the summit of the island, where you will discover the ancient Byzantine church dating back to the 12th century.
Although only the walls of the church have endured the test of time, the surrounding area is adorned with captivating white, black, and pink mosaics. In close proximity to the church, you will find two enchanting sites. One of them is a spot where people make wishes of a material nature, represented by an ancient olive tree that still bears fruit. The other site is designated for non-materialistic desires, marked by a mosaic circle at the entrance of the church.
Sharp Teeth
The volcanic island derives its name from its distinctive aerial resemblance to the open mouth of a colossal dragon, owing to the solidified lava formations. Local belief holds that the abundance of small shells found on the island brings good fortune in financial matters.
Rabbit Island
Finally, we will arrive at Rabbit Island, situated near a private island that was previously recognized as SelectMaris, one of the most luxurious and prestigious hotels in Turkey. The island was specifically designed to provide a secluded retreat for affluent individuals, celebrities, and politicians, offering them respite from the constant scrutiny of the public and the media.
